Scooby-Doo was the title star of a long-running Saturday-morning cartoon of the 1970s and ’80s. A comically nervous Great Dane, Scooby spent each episode hunting ghosts with four human teenagers, Shaggy, Velma, Fred, & Daphne. (The group drove around in a van called the Mystery Machine.)

In the 1990s Scooby-Doo returned as an icon for Generation X. A Scooby-Doofeature film was released in 2002, with a computer-generated Scooby with a live-action cast including Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy. The film was a hit, and a sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, followed in 2004.

Velma Dace Dinkley is a fictional character in  Scooby-Doo,

  • She is the genius out of all the others.
  • She is often seen being the one to reveal the clues and solve the crimes.

Her character is famous for the lines:

1. “Jinkies!”

2. “My Glasses! I can’t see without my glasses!”

In the two live-action feature length films, she is portrayed by Linda Cardellini.

Fred

Frederick Herman Jones, known to his friends by the nickname “Freddie” or Fred.

Fred is known to plan traps which Scooby-Doo and/or Shaggy would often set off by mistake, only for the villain to wind up captured by the trap anyway.

 Although generally a very nice guy, Fred can be bossy at times, and will force Shaggy and Scooby to stick around until the mystery is solved. He, along with Velma, is the leader of the gang.

 

Daphne

Daphne Ann Blake is depicted as coming from a wealthy family, is noted for her orange hair, her fashion sense.

  • Before she was shown to only care about her hair) and her knack for getting into danger.
  • Daphne is considered to be the third most popular character in the Scooby Doo franchise, only behind Shaggy and Scooby, and has appeared in more adaptations than other character, aside from Shaggy and Scooby. She is played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the live action films.

Norville “Shaggy” Rogers 

 He is a cowardly slacker more interested in eating than solving mysteries.

Shaggy is the second most-popular character in the franchise after Scooby himself, and is the only other Scooby-Doo character to appear in all iterations of the franchise.

 He also is the number one trouble maker in the gang.
